Filipe Hisao Kobayashi

About

I'm a linguist whose work focuses on semantics and its interface with syntax. I'm broadly interested in many areas, but topics close to my heart include questions and plurality. In my dissertation, I investigated the meaning of sentences in which DPs appear to be interpreted as quantifiers over intensional individuals (e.g., Most governors have changed after the election).

I've been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Salzburg since Summer 2024. I received my PhD from MIT in August 2023.

I'm also an aspiring birder, though not a particularly good one.

Concerning my name: Hisao is part of my first name, not my last. Unless we've met in high school, I go by my first first name, Filipe.
